Così la domenica 15 giugno 1986 centinaia di testimoni di Geova erano pacificamente radunati in un teatro di Larissa. Erano lì per studiare la Bibbia ed esaminare come migliorare nella loro vita quotidiana l’applicazione dei princìpi cristiani in essa contenuti.
Notate, però, cosa è accaduto. Il quotidiano locale I Larisa ha riferito: “Centinaia di persone, per lo più appartenenti ad organizzazioni [della Chiesa Ortodossa Greca] della nostra città, capeggiate da alcuni preti, hanno cominciato a radunarsi e ad esprimere il loro dissenso nei confronti degli occupanti del cinema, cioè oltre 700 testimoni di Geova. La folla sembrava decisa ad entrare nel cinema per porre fine all’assemblea”.
La cosa è andata avanti per circa tre ore. Infine la folla è stata dispersa da ingenti forze di polizia. w86 1/12 p. 3
